The JMU Office of Economic and Community Development embraces a framework of university economic engagement promoted by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities and the University Economic Developers Association, which describes universities’ economic engagement actions falling into three realms – talent, innovation and place.
We seek to use a service orientation to:
- Communicate JMU’s economic engagement in the region and Commonwealth
- Foster collaborations that advance the talent pipeline, innovation support and community quality of life
- Connect partners to expertise, research and scholarship
- Identify opportunities to resource economic engagement initiatives
- Support JMU’s connection with Commonwealth and regional initiatives
