Description: This is the first session of this two-part workshop. Participants will be introduced to principles of editing and become familiar with the JMU style guide, whose guidance will be applied to participants’ choice of documents in the second session.
Polished, professional communication is critical to effectively convey information and is an absolute requirement to advance anyone’s career at JMU. This course offers simple and clear tips to edit writing and apply it in a variety of media specific to participants’ own professional units.
After completing this session, you will be able to:
- Use various levels of effective editing
- Apply rules to documents that participants use in their own units
- Edit your own and others’ work
- Apply basic formatting
