Estate planning is a critical process to protect your assets and your loved ones during your life and after your death. It streamlines procedures and lowers expenses related to death and incapacity. Estate planning is one of the best ways to help your survivors with the difficult transition after your death.
This workshop will cover essential concepts and documents everyone should consider as part of an estate plan, including the role of a Will (and sometimes a Living Trust), beneficiary designations for assets that don't pass under your Will (such as life insurance and retirement plan accounts), Powers of Attorney for property and personal decisions, and a Living Will or Healthcare Directives.
At this workshop participants will learn:
- How to protect assets from nursing home costs, and how you may be able to save more than you expect
- The most important legal documents you need, and the things they should contain
- How to help ensure your estate provides an inheritance for your heirs, and supports your nursing home bound spouse
- How to qualify for little - known Veterans benefits that deal with estate planning facets
- Which Trust is ideal for 2nd marriages and blended families
- The definition of Elder Law
