The INU International Student Seminar on Global Citizenship and Peace is an annual global student immersion program offered at Hiroshima University in Japan. The seminar is structured around the August 6 commemoration of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The 2024 Seminar will take place August 1-10 in Hiroshima, and CGE will sponsor 2 students to represent JMU at the seminar this year. 

The INU Student Seminar features:

• Lectures and workshops with academic experts and guest speakers from around the world;
• Cultural activities
• Interactive seminars that encourage stimulating discussion and learning;
• A role-play of a special session of the United Nations General Assembly;
• A truly international student body

Organized annually in Indonesia by Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (Parahyangan Catholic University, "UNPAR"), a JMU partner institution and member of the INU, the International Student Conference brings together students from around the world for a global cross-cultural experience.

The application period for the January 2024 conference is closed at this time. Opportunities to apply for the 2025 seminar will be posted here in Fall 2024.

JMU doctoral students are invited to apply for the Researcher Mobility Program, an initiative designed to encourage the development of international research collaborations between members of the International Network of Universities (INU).

The Researcher Mobility Program offers faculty researchers and PhD students (or equivalent) the opportunity to establish an international research collaboration with another INU member university.  The purpose of this program is to develop joint research initiatives between INU member universities and to share expertise between research centres.  Visits should be for 2-4 weeks and should form the basis for future collaboration between the two research centres.

In 2023 the INU offered five awards of up to $2,000 each year, which contribute toward travel and living costs to facilitate the visit. Applications are likely to re-open in early 2024.

The Henry Fong Award is based on a competitive process available to students who attended the INU Student Seminar for Global Citizenship and Peace in Hiroshima, Japan. The 2022 award winner was a student from JMU!
