Concert to benefit disaster victims

SUMMARY: In partnership with United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County; 10 student led organizations along with four community organizations will present a disaster relief concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 30 at James Madison University's Wilson Hall.


A concert to raise funds for victims of several recent natural disasters will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at James Madison University's Wilson Hall.

While admission is free, donations will be accepted to aid victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, earthquakes in Mexico and wildfires in the western U.S.

Planned by 10 student organizations, the event is being held in partnership with the United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

Paula Lam, associate director of University Unions, said she is proud of how a “wonderful group of diverse students have joined together to support victims of the recent natural disasters. These students are truly an example of JMU’s vision to be the national model for the engaged university – engaged with ideas and the world.”
