SUMMARY: Brittani Butler is pinned on by her mother, Col. Nikki Butler after graduating from The United States Army Airborne School.

Butler is the first woman in a decade to attain the demanding physical standards and be selected as a member of JMU’s Ranger Group, all while maintaining a 3.8 GPA in a demanding academic program. She will go on to compete in the annual Ranger Challenge Competition on Friday, October 19, at Fort Pickett.

The Ranger Group focuses their rigorous training toward preparations for ROTC’s 4th Brigade Ranger Challenge Competition, where groups from 36 universities compete against one another in physically and mentally challenging events each fall. These events include basic rifle marksmanship, land navigation (day & night), obstacle course, PT test, grenade assault course, ruck march, radio communication and more.

Butler also serves as Battalion Commander for her fellow cadets. She is available for interviews prior to the competition.
