Dukes Vote on Election Day!
JMU HeadlinesDear Dukes,
Tomorrow, Nov. 7, is Election Day, and I want to encourage all of you to get out and vote. Democracy is not a spectator sport. This is especially true at a time when our democracy is facing many challenges. For those of us who are eligible, voting is both a personal right and a civic responsibility to our community. Every vote counts.
In Virginia, the polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. For information on voter registration, polling locations and local races, check out the Madison Center for Civic Engagement’s 2023 Election Guide.
Students who live on campus and are registered to vote on campus can vote at Godwin Hall. Students, faculty, and staff who live off campus and are registered to vote in Virginia can vote according to their place of residence. To find your precinct, go to TurboVote or click here.
To vote in person, you will need one of the following forms of identification:
- JAC card or JMU student Mobile ID
- Virginia driver’s license or other ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
- Passport
- U.S. military ID
For more information on voter identification, visit the Virginia Department of Elections website.
Go Dukes and go vote!
Sincerely,
Jonathan R. Alger
President
