Update on Crowdstrike outage

JMU Community,

By now, you will have seen news regarding the CrowdStrike issues that impacted technology globally yesterday.  CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity company whose technology is used broadly to provide anti-virus, malware, and other security services. The university uses some CrowdStrike technology and many of our vendors use it as well. 

Microsoft experienced some issues early but were able to remediate those quickly so there was no impact to email services.  Other services impacted were a few IT systems, the Counseling Center, and the University Recreation system.  We were able to address those systems within hours and services were restored. 

We continue to monitor for any residual issues, but currently all is well.
