Chamique Holdsclaw to speak at Martin Luther King Jr. Week event
JMU HeadlinesSUMMARY: JMU's Martin Luther King Jr. Week will feature mental health advocate, Olympic gold medalist, and Women's National Basketball Association Hall of Famer Chamique Holdsclaw Jan. 22 at Wilson Hall.
Chamique Holdsclaw, a mental health advocate, Olympic gold medalist, and Women's National Basketball Association Hall of Famer, will serve as the keynote speaker for James Madison University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Week program Jan. 22.
The event will be held in Wilson Hall from 6-7:30 p.m. and livestreamed here.
Holdsclaw’s presentation, organized by the Center for Multicultural Student Services, in partnership with the Office of the President and JMU Athletics, is part of the week's programming honoring the life and legacy of the late civil rights leader. Her presentation draws from her own mental health journey and aims to inspire those who suffer from their own or a loved one’s mental health issues.
