Dominion Lecturer: Dr. Leah P. Hollis
Office of the ProvostThe Madison Caucus for Gender Equality is proud to present this year’s Dominion lecturer, Dr. Leah P. Hollis, on Monday, September 22 at 7:00pm at Transitions in Warren Hall. Dr. Hollis is the President and Founder of Patricia Berkly LLC, a diversity training and consulting group. Her lecture titled “Changing Agents: Inclusive Excellence as Path to Innovation” will reflect on the diversity and innovation that emerge from a culture of inclusion. Hollis will highlight the shifting demographics across universities and present how universities can maintain a healthy environment using inclusive practices in leadership.
Dr. Hollis has a length resume in higher education to include faculty and senior leadership posts at Northeastern University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rugters University (her alma mater). In addition to attending Rutgers for her undergraduate degree, Hollis received her M.A. from University of Pittsburgh and was a Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellow at Boston University where she received her Ed.D. In Administration, Training and Policy Studies.
Hollis continued her professional training at Harvard University through the Graduate School of Education, Higher Education Management Development Program. She earned certification in Project Management and Executive Leadership at Stanford University and Cornell University respectively. Further, she has earned certifications in EEO Law/Affirmative Action and Conflict Resolution and Investigation from the American Association for Affirmative Action.
Moreover, Dr. Hollis is a noted trainer and speaker. She has served as a diversity trainer for Northeastern University and has spoken regionally and nationally as a diversity trainer and consultant on such topics as race, gender, ethnicity, equality and access.
The Dominion Lecture is an annual event sponsored by the Caucus and is supported by The Office of the Provost, The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Development, and The Office of Cross Disciplinary Studies and Diversity Engagement. announce that Mrs. Mary Ann Alger, JMU’s First Lady, will introduce this year’s lecture. A reception will follow the talk. This lecture is free and open to the public.
