Dukes holding doors
AlumniSUMMARY: Join the JMU Alumni Association Board to help continue the tradition of fostering community, inclusivity, and opportunity for current and future students.
Echoing the spirit of “The Everything School,” more people are catching the excitement and recognizing the accomplishments happening at JMU. Yet, above all, I believe the JMU experience fosters a sense of community and connection that is truly unique. The relationships formed and the shared experiences among Dukes are powerful, transcending both time and place.
For me, after graduation, this connection continued through following JMU Athletics, staying in touch with friends, contributing on Giving Day, and making it a point to return to Harrisonburg for Homecoming. Still, after doing all of that, I felt a growing desire to do even more — to help open doors for current students, fellow alumni, and those considering JMU as their college choice. After reaching out to a few people in my JMU network, I realized that applying to serve on the JMU Alumni Association Board of Directors would fulfill my desire to stay engaged, build relationships, and help further the University’s mission.
Working alongside a dream team of staff and volunteers has allowed me to contribute to meaningful impacts, both on individual lives and at the systems level. If you’re interested in giving back to JMU, consider offering your time and talents through volunteering with the Alumni Association, or connecting with a regional or affinity chapter.
Simply put, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the education, mentorship and opportunities JMU provided me. I wholeheartedly encourage any alumni to consider volunteering or applying to serve on the Board of Directors to ensure that future Dukes have an even greater Madison experience.
