Forbes Center welcomes public to free open house Aug. 31

A free event for all ages with children’s activities, workshops, performances and more.

The Forbes Center for the Performing Arts is thrilled to invite the Shenandoah Valley community to a special Open House on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event, designed for all ages, marks the celebration of the Forbes Center’s 15th Anniversary Season, offering children’s activities, workshops, performances and more.

Guests will have the unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the Forbes Center through a variety of engaging activities. Highlights include backstage tours every 15 minutes, educational workshops, and captivating mini-performances across the Center’s venues. Whether you’re an arts enthusiast or simply curious about the magic that happens behind the scenes, there's something for everyone.

Guests can participate in an interactive dance workshop, witness mini theatre and musical theatre performances, and learn about the intricate design and construction of Steinway pianos. Additional experiences include sessions on sound design, stage combat demonstrations, a behind-the-scenes look with the Marching Royal Dukes, and insights into costume development from concept to stage. Families will enjoy a variety of children’s activities, including theatre mask-making, face painting and theatre games.
