(phnompenhpost) The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) demined 3 Mk82 bombs in Kampong Speu and Kandal, crucial for public safety. Heng Ratana highlighted the risk these ERWs pose, urging caution during development projects. The bombs, remnants from the 1970s, were safely removed and neutralized. Ratana emphasized CMAC's role in pre-development land clearance to prevent casualties. Five incidents in 2024 underscore the ongoing danger of landmines and ERWs in Cambodia, with Pursat province experiencing three casualties, and one each in Banteay Meanchey and Battambang. Collaboration with demining authorities remains essential for safe land use and development, as mandated by law.
