Zimbabwe Working Group Meeting Focus on HMA Quality

(APOPO) The recent HMA Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting in Zimbabwe, hosted by APOPO on May 30th, focused on quality management systems (QMS) in mine action. Supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (WRA), this forum brought together key stakeholders to discuss innovative practices and address challenges in the sector.

Regular TWG meetings facilitate open discussions on standards, new technologies, and operational challenges. The latest meeting, attended by organizations like NPA, MAG, NMCU, and ZIMAC, underscored the importance of continuous improvement in quality management. APOPO’s Mikael Bold emphasized that QMS ensures safe, effective operations compliant with national and international standards. HALO Trust will host the next meeting in August.
