(Yahoo News) An unexploded World War II bomb was safely defused overnight on a ship in the Rhine River in Cologne, Germany. The bomb was discovered Wednesday evening and moved to a secure location away from residential areas.
The British-made 5-tonne bomb had a rear-mounted fuse, which was defused by specially trained crews. The operation did not require evacuations as the ship's location ensured safety. The city administration closed the Rhine to shipping and restricted airspace during the defusal process.
