(Phnom Penh Post) Cambodia continues to face the deadly legacy of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), remnants of its war-torn past. In this hazardous landscape, a new generation of women, like 21-year-old Siv Linda, are stepping up as deminers. Linda is part of the Special Salvage Dive Unit (SDU) under the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), where she undertakes the perilous task of underwater demining in the Mekong River.

Equipped with specialized diving gear, Linda and her team work in challenging conditions, often relying on touch due to near-zero visibility. Her commitment to making Cambodia safer is unwavering, driven by a deep love for her country. Despite facing dangers and skepticism, Linda remains dedicated, her resolve strengthened by rigorous training and a belief in her mission. Her story highlights the courage and resilience of those working to rid Cambodia of its deadly past.
