(GovConWire) Tetra Tech has been awarded a five-year, $1 billion contract by the U.S. State Department to provide global conventional weapons destruction support. The contract, issued by the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs’ Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement, covers tasks like planning, training, and deploying teams to locate and remove landmines, small arms, and light weapons.
Additionally, the contract supports explosive ordnance risk education. This initiative helps prevent dangerous actors from accessing weapons and ammunition, enhancing security in over 30 countries. A seed task order specifically calls for services in Iraq. The project aims to bolster U.S. allies' ability to handle arms securely and safely, strengthening global efforts to manage and remove dangerous ordnance.
