(OSCE) The traditionally male-dominated mine action sector is increasingly involving women, making it crucial to integrate gender equality principles across all aspects of demining work. On September 10, the OSCE Secretariat Extra-budgetary Support Programme for Ukraine, in collaboration with Ukraine's Ministry of Economy and with EU financial backing, held a gender awareness workshop in Kyiv. Forty-five representatives from government agencies, non-state operators, and international organizations reviewed challenges in gender inclusion within mine action.

Discussions highlighted the value women bring to demining, such as improving communication during non-technical surveys in war-affected areas. The workshop explored practical measures, including gender-responsive budgeting, recruitment, and professional development. Recommendations will guide future government policies and mine action operations to implement gender inclusiveness, improving safety and efficiency in demining efforts.
