Innovative Solutions for Humanitarian Demining Showcased in Kyiv

(UNDP) The "Security 2.0: Humanitarian Demining" forum in Kyiv, held on October 3, 2024, gathered industry leaders and experts to showcase and discuss cutting-edge demining technologies. Organized with the support of UNDP and several governmental bodies, the event highlighted the importance of modernizing demining efforts in Ukraine. Key discussions revolved around the need for innovation in mine action, particularly given the challenges Ukraine faces in removing explosive remnants of war.
New technologies, such as mine-clearing drones and robotic systems, were presented, alongside traditional methods like service dogs. Notable speakers emphasized the progress made in regulatory frameworks and the need for continuous support for Ukrainian deminers. UNDP representatives stressed the significance of collaboration and innovation to ensure faster, safer land clearance, benefiting sectors like agriculture. The event underscored Ukraine’s commitment to a ten-year demining strategy supported by international partners.
