(EINPresswire) A total of 138 Ukrainian demining personnel completed Mriya Aid's 2024 training program in explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) at the Mine Action Training Centre in Kosovo. These trainees, including 11 women, achieved certification in the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), recognized as the global standard in humanitarian demining. The program’s five groups completed either IMAS Level 2 or Level 3 certification, with the latest group returning to Ukraine for deployment.
IMAS Level 2 trains personnel to identify and transport explosives safely, while Level 3 enables leadership in demining operations. The training was provided by Praedium Consulting Malta and funded by Mriya Aid, a Canadian not-for-profit. With over 146,000 sq kms of Ukrainian land contaminated by explosive threats, these trained personnel are crucial to clearing the land and saving civilian lives. The project is Mriya Aid's largest mine action training initiative since 2022.
