(Euromaiden) Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense is increasing employment in humanitarian demining, especially for veterans and individuals with disabilities, including those injured by explosives. This expansion aligns with Ukraine's ongoing demining efforts as the conflict with Russia leaves extensive hazardous areas across the country. The widespread contamination of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) has heightened risks for civilians and hampered reconstruction.

Various organizations, including international partners, are mobilized to meet demining needs, with specialized training and accessible work conditions planned for all workers. Initial results show progress: four Ukrainians with injuries from explosive devices are now employed with The HALO Trust, analyzing satellite and UAV data to identify mined zones. Additionally, a new partnership with Palantir will leverage artificial intelligence to enhance demining processes. Ukraine also seeks to involve more women in mine action, aiming to increase the efficiency of these critical operations.
