(European Commission) In Burao, Somaliland, a cultural festival organized by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) brought together over 260 people from both host and internally displaced communities. This vibrant event, supported by the EU-BREACH Project, aimed to strengthen social cohesion by celebrating shared heritage. With traditional music, dance, and displays of cultural artifacts, attendees experienced a deep sense of belonging and unity. DRC Somaliland’s Area Manager, Awo Adam, emphasized the power of cultural exchange in bridging differences and fostering mutual respect.
For Sahra, a displaced participant, the festival was transformative, allowing her to share her culture and feel recognized. The EU-BREACH Project seeks to reach 48,000 direct and 240,000 indirect beneficiaries, promoting social unity, resilience, and inclusion across the region. Through ongoing initiatives, the project envisions a future where communities work together toward peace and a shared identity.
