(The Star) World Education (WE), in partnership with Laos' National Regulatory Authority (NRA), launched a renewed "Medical Support Fund for UXO Victims," supported by the US State Department, with a budget of $553,455 for 2024–2028. Operating in Laos since 1992, WE focuses on education, health, mine action, and economic development. The Medical Support Fund, active since 1996, assists unexploded ordnance (UXO) victims with medical care, assistive devices, and family support, benefiting over 1,185 survivors.
In collaboration with NRA, WE ensures survivors' needs are met while working towards Laos' Sustainable Development Goal 18, “Lives Safe from UXO.” Additionally, WE has integrated mine risk education into schools, reaching over 500,000 children and expanding outreach through community programs and social media to promote safety.
