(Syrian Observatory for Human Rights) In Deir Ezzor, Syria, three children were severely injured by a landmine explosion in Khasham, highlighting the persistent danger of war remnants. The children were transferred to Al-Hasakah due to the lack of specialized medical care in their region. Over the past two days, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) documented eight civilian deaths and 16 injuries, with children comprising the majority of victims.
Fatalities and injuries occurred across regions controlled by various factions, underscoring the widespread nature of the crisis. SOHR urges the international community to prioritize clearing landmines, support demining authorities, and provide education on ordnance risks. They also emphasize the need for victim assistance, including healthcare and psychological support, to mitigate the long-term impacts of landmine contamination on Syrian civilians.
