(Telegrafi) Over 1,300 Ukrainian women are actively demining fields and villages contaminated by Russia’s invasion, with many receiving training at the Kosovo Mine Action and Training Center (MAT Kosovo) in Peja. These women, from diverse backgrounds like baristas, managers, and activists, aim to restore Ukraine's agricultural land and economy, known as the "breadbasket of the world." MAT Kosovo, founded in 2010, specializes in hands-on training aligned with International Mine Action Standards.
Since the Russian invasion, it has trained 436 Ukrainians, supported by international donations. The facility provides realistic demining scenarios, simulating minefields, tanks, and urban environments. Originally established due to Kosovo's post-war recovery needs, the school now trains deminers globally, helping professionals from over 100 countries address explosive hazards effectively.
