Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) leads efforts to clear munitions, but progress is slow. Poor data collection and lack of funding have stalled regional strategies, despite recent aid increases from the U.S., Japan, and Australia.

Experts stress the need for long-term solutions to this Pacific-wide problem. Since 2016, over 10,000 UXOs have been cleared in Palau, yet many hazardous areas remain. The region’s toxic legacy demands greater international collaboration for safety and development.
