Baxter Gilliam shares lessons learned as second-generation entrepreneur

In remarks at the Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship’s October “open coffee,” a scion of the center’s primary benefactors stressed the importance of knowing your own strengths and weaknesses, surrounding yourself with good people and prioritizing accomplishment of a goal over being right. “Sometimes,” he says, “it’s more important to let someone else solve a problem.” Read more.

JMU's College of Business is on the cusp of the top quartile relative to its peer institutions, according to the latest set of rankings issued by U.S. News & World Report. It was among the 439 business schools to be evaluated for the 2025 edition of the widely quoted national publication.
