HM students at New York Show
Hart School of Hospitality, Sport and Recreation ManagementNine Hospitality Students from the JMU Hart School attended the 2015 New York International HX Hotel Show held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Students attended conference sessions and sat in on a briefing at the Loews Hotel with two JMU alums and executives to discuss current hotel trends. This experience allows the students the opportunity to network with alumni and prestigious industry professionals. This once-in-a-lifetime learning experience is to expose students as young hospitality professionals to the hotel industry and to real-life applications of what they learn in the classroom, as well as promote JMU and the Hart School program.
Carley Edwards (Hospitality Senior) stated, “The NY HX was an awesome experience where I’ve learned so much about just how many details go into the planning of a hotel or other hospitality outlet. Hospitality is an all-encompassing industry including elements of design, technology, sanitation, accommodations, and food and beverage just to name a few; the Hotel Experience exposed me to products and services used in the industry that I hadn't even thought of before."
