In the Fall 2018 semester, a group of students from the HM 417 Advanced Event Management class participated in a project that included an experiential learning opportunity in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
During the four week in-class project, they had the opportunity to interact with industry professionals from Hershey Entertainment and Resorts. The students learned how to work with various clients and their needs while following specific event and meeting criteria. They then created a written event proposal and an oral presentation.
In November, the group traveled to Hershey with professor Theresa Lind, where they had the opportunity to tour the Hershey Country Club, Hershey Lodge and The Hotel Hershey. While in Hershey, they presented their event proposal to a panel of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts professionals, who then led an informal discussion.
It was an amazing experience for the students, who were are very grateful for the opportunity to travel to Hershey and connect the classroom with industry.
