Kathleen Overfield-Zook has had a multifaceted career as musician, pedagogue, entrepreneur, entrepreneurial ecosystem builder, and program director in the non-profit space.

Kathleen holds both a Bachelor and Master’s degree from the University of Michigan in Viola Performance. For many years, Kathleen had a very successful freelance career that spaned everything from private teaching to performances with symphonies, chamber ensembles and summer festivals up and down the east coast.

It was after the founding of her company, the award-winning Bloom Trio and Event Musicians, LLC that Kathleen found her passion for arts entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education. Having previously served as Assistant Director of the Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship at James Madison University, Kathleen worked as the Director of Programming and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Builder with the Shenandoah Community Capital Fund for three years before returning to JMU to lead the Lifelong Learning Institute.

In her freetime, Kathleen continues to perform music whenever possible! She is often found cheering on her sports teams from the Michigan Wolverines to the Buffalo Bills to her favorite drivers in Formula 1 to - of course - the JMU Dukes. Most importantly, she loves spending time with her two kids as they explore their own endeavors!
