Mission
The mission of the Morrison Bruce Center (MBC) Advisory Board is to bring together a range of MBC stakeholders to provide recommendations that will inform the Executive Staff in their leadership of the Center.
Advisory Board Responsibilities:
Advise: Assist with enhancing the reach and effectiveness of MBC programming and research initiatives through sharing experiences and input on MBC past, present, and future initiatives and proposals.
Assist: Aid in identifying and obtaining additional resources, which may include financial support, physical spaces, personnel support, influence, etc.
Advocate: Collaborate with MBC Executive staff to positively influence the perceptions of the MBC using information related to best practices and trends in physical activity and health promotion.
Membership and Other Roles:
Advisory Board Chair: The Advisory Board Chair will be the Executive Director of the Morrison Bruce Center.
Members: The MBC Advisory Board will consist of representatives appointed to reflect the MBC’s position within the University, its outreach programming, and its research agenda. It is intended, but not required, that the Advisory Board will include representatives from the following categories: MBC alumni, MBC program participants, MBC program participant parents, JMU faculty (including at least one from Kinesiology), JMU staff, JMU Advancement and/or Foundation staff, and MBC donors.
Ex-Officio Members: Ex-Officio members of the MBC Advisory Board will include the Associate Director of the Morrison Bruce Center, Graduate Student Director(s), and Kinesiology Academic Unit Head.
Guests: Invited guests may attend at the invitation of the Chair or his/her designee.
