Summer orientation information for incoming students

JMU News

Welcome to the Madison Family!

We are excited to welcome you to JMU and we are eager to help you transition to your life as a Duke.  We hope you and your family are remaining safe and healthy and please know that JMU is closely monitoring the ongoing guidance and recommendations related to COVID-19.  We want you to know that the Governor of Virginia’s stay-at-home order through June 10th has led us to offer a virtual Summer Springboard orientation for all of you. We know you were looking forward to coming to Harrisonburg to begin your Madison experience but your safety and well-being will always be our top priority. We look forward to engaging with you virtually on your reserved Summer Springboard day and during all of the summer programming we have planned for you.

Your transition is incredibly important to us and we believe that we can still provide you with everything you need to successfully prepare for your life at JMU through these efforts this summer.  We thank you for your flexibility, patience and support as we all work through this together. Despite the unexpected turn of events, we are committed to creating a quality experience to help you form connections with your peers, academics and campus resources through a variety of virtual programs for you and your families. We look forward to bringing all of you together for a meaningful experience led by our talented student Orientation team this summer. We will then eagerly await your arrival in August for 1787 Weeks of Welcome!

In the meantime, continue preparing for your Madison experience by:

  • Completing your One Book steps, https://www.jmu.edu/onebook/;
  • Checking your JMU email regularly for updates;
  • Following @JMUOrientation on social media; and
  • Contacting us via email, orientation@jmu.edu or calling (540) 568-1787.

Go Dukes!
