Jan. 30 entry test weather update
JMU NewsSince you have an appointment for entry testing on Sunday we wanted to reach out to you directly. At this time, there is severe weather (snow, sleet and freezing rain) forecasted for all of Sunday in our area and the entire East Coast. To protect all of you and the volunteers running the testing site we have adjusted the entry testing clinic hours for Sunday to 3 to 5 p.m. If you are still arriving on Sunday you can come at any time between 3 and 5 p.m. using your current ticket (no need to contact the ticket office) and check in at entrance D (entrance E will no longer be open.) Please note that it is still possible that the severe weather may cause us to cancel all Sunday testing.
We have made it possible for all students with appointments on Sunday to test today (Saturday, Jan. 30). If you are in town or able to arrive today, we strongly encourage you to reschedule your appointment for today (we are testing until 7 p.m.) To reschedule your appointment go to Student.JMUTickets.com and choose from the existing time slots. If you have trouble getting a ticket through the ticketing system, you can come to the Convocation Center door D and get one from the ticketing booth.
If you cannot arrive today, another option is to arrive on Monday, Feb. 1 or Tuesday, Feb. 2 and attend the testing clinics on those days. These free testing clinics will be held at the Union (Warren 502) from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please use these designated links to sign up for a time.
Arriving after Feb. 2
If you need to arrive after Feb. 2, JMU will not be able to provide you with a free test. You will need to complete testing before you move in using one of the following options:
Option 1: Test at home
- You must provide written verification of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test performed within 24 hours of arrival on campus OR a negative PCR test obtained within 48 hours of arriving on campus. Your written verification of completed test results should include date and time of test, name, type of test and the result.
- Bring the test results to Residence Life, Huffman Hall, to be verified.
- Upon approval, your JACard will be reactivated and you will be able to move in.
- If you have any questions, please email res-life@jmu.edu.
Option 2: Test through the University Health Center (UHC)
- You will need to schedule an appointment at UHC. Please call 540-568-6178 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, to schedule an appointment. We recommend you schedule 72 hours prior to your arrival. Appointment times are limited.
- The out-of-pocket cost is $55 or it can be billed to insurance.
- This appointment is for testing only, NOT verification of at-home results.
- You will then proceed to Residence life with your negative results to reactivate your JACard.
We will continue to update information on the Stop the Spread FAQ and will send another email to students with Sunday appointments if we do need to cancel that day.
Stay safe Dukes!
