Campus Update on Vaccinations

News

Faculty and Staff,

With so many questions surrounding COVID vaccinations, your patience thus far is greatly appreciated and will be needed in the coming weeks.

JMU is serving as a partner to the Central Shenandoah Health District in hosting and supporting the vaccination clinics; however, CSHD continues to be the primary point of contact for scheduling and administering the vaccine.

A few critical points of information for you to be aware of are as follows:

Only click on a link to schedule your vaccine if you received an email directly from CSHD or a CSHD employee. Do not click on a link if you were forwarded an email from a family member, friend or colleague. Please do not forward an email with a link to sign up for a vaccination clinic.

Anyone who registers through a forwarded link and is not eligible to receive a vaccine at the time of vaccination will have their appointment cancelled. The Central Shenandoah Health District maintains a waitlist for COVID-19 vaccine clinics. Anyone who signs up for a vaccine through a forwarded link is taking the spot of someone who has already been identified from that waitlist.

If the email is authentic, the "from" section of the email should be "Vaccination Clinic" or the sender should have "@vdh.virginia.gov" in their email address.

The University Health Center is continuously monitoring vaccine availability through the Central Shenandoah Health District. While the University is not the primary resource for the vaccination, the University Health Center will work with Human Resources to provide you with the latest information as it becomes available.

Future updates will be sent to you via email so monitor your JMU email closely.

Please visit the Central Shenandoah Health District website, https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/central-shenandoah/covid-19-vaccine-information/, for details on local COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

We understand the anxieties and questions vaccines create. Please know we understand and will work to communicate with you as much as we can. We want to partner with you to support you through this challenging process.
