Notice of loss within our campus community
JMU NewsDear JMU Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we write to you today. It saddens us to share with you there has been a loss within our community. Lauren Bernett died yesterday, and our condolences and deepest sympathies are with her family, friends, coaches and fellow members of the student-athlete community.
Lauren was a sophomore biology major from McDonald, Pennsylvania, a high-achieving member of our softball team and a great ambassador of JMU.
We are in contact with Lauren’s family to provide support, while respecting their privacy in this difficult time.
Please know each of you are a valued member of the JMU community as we grieve together. Take time to check in on your friends and colleagues as these are difficult moments that can often lead to overwhelming feelings and emotions.
