JMU President Charlie King said the event "is a great way for our students to unwind and celebrate their first week at JMU." He also said the event provides students an opportunity to learn more about what Harrisonburg has to offer and connect with the community.
Students were treated to a welcome message from Dr. Tim Miller, JMU’s vice president of student affairs, as well as a performance by the Marching Royal Dukes.
Students also had the opportunity to explore downtown businesses and sample local offerings from several vendors. Check out more about the block party here: The Daily News-Record and WHSV TV-3.
