The HHS Fine Arts Academy
NewsFew would argue that art in all forms enriches lives. At Harrisonburg High School, fine arts coordinator J.R. Snow ('99, '08M), choral teacher Bethany Houff ('01, '03M), art teacher Jauan Brooks ('94,'05M) and JMU dance professor Suzanne Miller-Corso spearheaded an innovative Fine Arts Academy. The unique program is a sequential and integrated arts curriculum focused on collaborative, interdisciplinary and experiential teaching and learning that infuses choral and instrumental music, creative writing, dance, drama and visual arts into the high school's education. Beyond enhanced learning, the academy embodies the commitment of Madison alumni and faculty to generate positive change through engagement.
