Monyette Martin ('93, '96M)
NewsMonyette has a special empathy for students, particularly first generation students and those from challenging backgrounds because when she first arrived on campus, she was one herself. But she had one cheerleader, her mother, who set an example for hard work and giving. Today, as senior assistant dean of admissions (regionally), Monyette offers the same support her mother gave her, as she guides potential students. She also co-chairs the Alpha Kappa Alpha Committee and leads the fundraising effort for the AKA Lambda Chi Forever Scholarship Fund. “Working with low income students requires a unique approach,” she says. “Building trust and recognizing each student as an individual with potential is vital.” With this level of care, Monyette helps to shape students’ lives and opportunities.
