Stephanie Stockwell
NewsA JMU mini-grant program funds faculty initiatives that exemplify the university’s vision to be the national model for the engaged university. One of the projects to receive funding was a proposal by Stephanie Stockwell, assistant professor of integrated science and technology, to construct a mobile biotechnology lab. The lab is vital to Stockwell’s partnership with Harrisonburg High School and efforts to align K-12 and JMU curricula, while breaking down barriers and stereotypes about pursuing careers in STEM. Stockwell regularly encourages students to “focus on solving a human problem … and come up with a solution that is practical and usable.”
