Children's disaster related activity book released

SUMMARY: An activity book for children titled "Too Much Weather: A Disaster Activity Book for Kids" is available for download as a resource for parents and caregivers.
Anne Stewart and Danielle Budash, working with a regional disaster preparedness agency, the Shenandoah Valley Project Impact, helped create disaster-related education material for children in response to Hurricane Katrina. The result was an activity book for children titled “Too Much Weather: A Disaster Activity Book for Kids.”
The activity book, based on dimensions of resilience, such as social support and recognizing emotions, is designed to be completed with a parent, teacher or adult helper/provider. It has been distributed in response to weather related disasters across the US and was recently reformatted into a mini activity book to be used by children affected by Hurricane Harvey. The book is being distributed, in English and Spanish, by the Federal Emergency Management Authority (FEMA) to children and families in shelters.
Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission for emergency management is seeking funding to reprint the activity book to provide access for children here. You can contact Rebecca Joyce rebecca@cspdc.org to make a donation.
