Abroad and away
NewsSUMMARY: College of Business students and faculty packed their bags and set out around the world for short-term summer study abroad programs.
The College of Business offers multiple short-term study abroad trips during the summer semester. This year students and faculty members traveled the globe, representing JMU in corners of the Earth, near and far.
CIS Consulting - Seattle, WA and Vancouver, Canada
Students visited the Amazon headquarters in Seattle on May 20 and heard from Amazon employees and alumni Daniel Blevins (‘17), Kelly Baldwin (‘97), Teresa Cummings (‘19), Sami Inam (‘08) and Charles Lex (’13).
James Rollen (‘17) of Deloitte in Seattle spoke to the group about careers in consulting. Deloitte’s Seattle office has a roof-top view of Elliot Bay.
On May 25 students toured Vancouver, taking in sights like Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Granville Island and Vancouver Lookout. Pictured: Students crossing one of the suspension bridges.
Marketing in Greece and Turkey
Students arrived on the island Milos, Greece, and were welcomed by locals who dressed in traditional Greek clothing and performed a traditional Greek dance. They were also given goodie bags filled with local foods, treats and gifts.
In Rhodes, students toured the Church of the Virgin Mary of the Burgh and the surrounding city. The pictured arches are what remains of the structure due to heavy bombing during World War 2.
International Finance in Antwerp
One day was spent in Ghent, Belgium, learning the history of the city and the buildings along the river.

JMU Global Supply Chain in Colombia
The ecosystems' lab at EAFIT University is the result of a collaboration between the private industry sector (Cementos Argos) and academia (EAFIT) to use microalgae for oxygen generation via CO2 consumption to close a green loop in their supply chain processes.
Students partake in an exotic fruit tasting. They sampled dragon fruit, passion fruit, mangosteen, mango, lychee, granadilla and more.
Aside from their academic rigors, students had the opportunity to take Salsa and Bachata lessons.
