MacOS Sonoma incompatible with some JMU systems
Information Technology-ComputingJMU Information Technology is monitoring issues that may affect the use of the newest Mac operating system, macOS Sonoma, with certain JMU systems.
Update: At this time, there are no outstanding issues that prevent Ventura users from upgrading to Sonoma, provided that updates are installed as noted below.
Previous/Resolved issues:
- JMU Network File Storage (N Drive): The 14.0 version of Sonoma is unable to mount DFS file shares, which is the technology used by JMU Network File Storage. DFS functionality has returned with the release of Sonoma 14.1.
- IBM SPSS Statistics: IBM has released a hotfix for SPSS version 29. The current version of SPSS and the hotfix are available from JMU Libraries. Versions 28 and prior are not compatible with macOS Sonoma.
- Adobe Creative Cloud: Adobe has now confirmed Sonoma compatibility for most applications including Creative Cloud desktop Version 6.
- Respondus Lockdown Browser: The latest version of Respondus Lockdown Browser is required for Sonoma compatibility. Download/installation instructions are available from JMU Libraries.
IT will continue to monitor for issues and provide updates.
