Account Grace Periods
Information Technology-ComputingThe recent implementation of the new Identity and Access Management (IAM) system, Okta, has benefited JMU with its ability to manage the accounts and system access of everyone at the university, which also includes the grace periods that individuals have for system access after they leave the university. Information Technology recommends that you review the current grace periods for various groups.
Over time, JMU will adjust these grace periods to accomplish things that were not possible under the old IAM system but would benefit our community. Future planned changes include:
-
An expanded grace period for adjunct faculty to allow for the cyclical nature of their work.
-
Changing the grace period for AP faculty to more closely align their access to that of classified staff.
Other planned and related changes include provisional access for faculty. Once implemented, faculty may be granted access to some JMU systems earlier in the hiring process, allowing them to more quickly begin familiarizing themselves with JMU technology and preparing for instruction.
We will continue to update our knowledge base and other documentation to reflect these changes as they occur, so please check these resources often for updates.
