CS Department Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

As we gear up for the fall 2022 semester, we would like to welcome the new additions to our department!

We are excited to welcome three new faculty members who bring expertise in a wide range of Computer Science areas. After 24 years of serving the department side by side, Carole Ritchie and Kathy Laycock, our Secretary and Office Manager, have retired. We are also excited to welcome Juan Becerra Martinez to our Administrative Team.

Chandani Shrestha

Dr. Chandani Shrestha earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Applications at Virginia Tech. Her research interests include human-computer interactions, learning sciences, information and communications technology for development (ICT4D), and educational technologies. She'll be teaching sections of CS 149, Introduction to Programming, this fall.

Juan Becerra

Juan Becerra Martinez is our new Office Manager. He attended Eastern Mennonite University’s School of Business and graduated in May 2020 with a BA in Organizational Leadership and two minors: Human Resource Management and Marketing. You'll find him in King 222.

Issac Wang

Dr. Isaac Wang earned his Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from the University of Florida. His research focuses on natural user interfaces, intelligent virtual agents, and gesture recognition. He'll be teaching sections of CS 149, Introduction to Programming, this fall.

Mona Rizvi

Dr. Mona Rizvi spent eight years teaching at the Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan. Before coming to us, she was teaching for the Costa Rica Campus of Texas Tech University. Her research interests include computer science education, wireless and mobile networks, and pervasive computing. Dr. Rizvi earned her Ph.D. from Old Dominion University.
