You can see the impact of alumni giving all around you at JMU: in classrooms, the libraries, our gardens and more, including those spaces and programs for student services and self-care. Giving Day is an opportunity to pay attention to and have gratitude for members of the JMU community who “Give Like a Duke.” That means sharing with a heart of purple and gold: Generously. Meaningfully. Loyally.

  1. Look! The signs of giving are literally all around you.
During the week leading up to Giving Day,
signs on campus mark a dozen sites where you can see what past contributors — who made gifts of all kinds and sizes — have done to make a difference for today’s students.

  1. Grab and go: Stop by cookie stations on campus.
During Giving Day, you can pick up a tasty snack and a few more facts about how JMU alumni continue to make a big difference today. Our start times and locations: College of Business in the Hartman Hall Atrium at 10 a.m., Festival front desk at 11 a.m., College of Visual and Performing Arts in the Forbes Courtyard at 1 p.m., and Student Success Center at 1 p.m. We’ll be there till we run out of cookies. 😋
  1. Finders keepers — and givers: Discover “Mad Money” boxes. (Only for students!)
Ten boxes are hidden on campus, each filled with JMU swag and a special certificate so students can commit someone else’s money to a favorite Giving Day fund. When a student finds one, they keep the swag and decide which college, program, or scholarship receives the funding.

  1. Feeling the love? Drop in at our Giving Day HQ.
Come handwrite a few thank-you cards that will go to Dukes who make gifts this year, and take some JMU swag when you leave. We’re located in the Leelou Alumni Center's Great Room until 7 p.m. (Leeolou is connected to Festival: just walk down the hall past the upstairs dining tables and study rooms, then through the glass doors. The Great Room will be on your left.)
  1. Late-night breakfast: Come and get it!
The University Program Board and the Office of Annual Giving present a special edition of LNB with university leaders behind the counter to serve you plus a celebration of the day’s success at midnight. It all happens in the lower drum at the Festival Student & Conference Center starting around 10 p.m.
