UHC Spotlight: Richard Ayers, MD
NewsBy Jason Diggs, graduate assistant
Dr. Ayers received his medical school training at The Medical College of VA, where he also did his family practice residency. He has been practicing medicine for 31 years, and has been with JMU as a staff physician for the past two and a half years. Previously, he worked as a family physician in Virginia Beach for 29 years.
Dr. Ayers joined the JMU community because he enjoys spending time with patients, which was not possible in a private practice. Richard enjoys interacting with the students and making a difference in their understanding of health issues.
"It's always great to see so many [students] taking an interest in their health," he offered.
Dr. Ayers loves spending time outdoors, going on hikes, and doing home renovation.
