Senior philosophy major Oleksandra Popova has been named the 2025 Outstanding Student in Philosophy by the philosophy faculty at James Madison University.  She will graduate with her bachelor's degree this spring and subsequently work for a Ukrainian advocacy group in Washington, D.C.  When asked about her experience studying philosophy, Popova commented that she thoroughly enjoyed studying Ancient Greek Philosophy with Dr. Antolic-Piper, as the textual analyis in that course taught her how to approach issues from different angles and left her with questions about the stability of her own personal beliefs.  She also developed philosophical interests in existentialism and the work of Jean-Paul Sartre as well as political philosophy and its questions about the legitimacy of goverment authority.  Congratulatins, Oleksandra!
