Why I want to serve on the Task Force:
My interest in serving on the task force is twofold. First, I often reflect on my lived experiences as a college student and educator in higher education when approaching DEI work. These experiences have allowed me to relate to lived experiences of current students who believe their voices are not heard and/or often question if higher education values what they have to offer in and outside the classroom. Second, as a member of the JMU community, I have a vested interest in improving the cultural and structural process for students to maximize their potential and to acquire the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to excel in future endeavors after receiving their degree from JMU.
