Scholarship Overview

An endowed scholarship established by Scot N. & Patricia G.Creech and the Charles Barker Champions for Charity to provide the financial resources to establish and support the Preston Scot Creech '02 Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Through this endowment fund, resources will be provided annually to outstanding undergraduate students who meet the criteria for this scholarship. Specifically, the student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the University's Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships; and, the following prioritized criteria shall guide the selection process:

First priority - To students from Virginia Beach, Virginia who are employees of the University Recreation Center and eligible for this Scholarship.

Second priority - (In the event that there may be no students from Virginia Beach, Virginia who are employees of the University Recreation Center and eligible for this Scholarship in a particular year) To students from Virginia Beach who are eligible for this Scholarship without regard to whether they are employees of the University Recreation Center.

Third Priority - (In the event that there may be no students from Virginia Beach who are eligible for this Scholarship in a particular year) -To students from the Commonwealth of Virginia who are employees of the University Recreation Center and eligible for this Scholarship.

Fourth Priority - (In the event that there may be no students from the Commonwealth of Virginia who are employees of the University Recreation Center and eligible for this Scholarship in a particular year) - To students from the Commonwealth of Virginia who are eligible for this Scholarship without regard to whether they are employees of the University Recreation Center.

In all cases, this Scholarship shall not be awarded to a student in lieu of compensation for employment or services rendered.

Once appointed to receive a Preston Scot Creech '02 Memorial Scholarship, a student may receive this scholarship for up to three additional academic years. It is anticipated that after the initial appointments of Preston Scot Creech '02 Memorial Scholars, it shall be the regular practice for at least one new scholarship recipient to be named each year, with other scholarship recipients continuing from the prior year(s).

Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of students as Preston Scot Creech '02 Memorial Scholars shall follow the University's guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
