Scholarship Overview
An endowed scholarship established by Andrew Meadows Righter '85 and Lisa Marie Righter '85 that will provide the financial resources to establish an endowment in support of a merit-based endowed scholarship. Through this Scholarship, funds will be provided annually to an outstanding undergraduate student in the sophomore, junior or senior year of study who meets the following selection criteria: First, to be considered for this scholarship, a student must demonstrate a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Once appointed as a Righter Scholar, a student must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to remain eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship may be renewed – and, therefore, a student may receive the Righter Scholarship for as many as three academic years, including the first year in which it is received. Second, to be considered for this scholarship, a student must demonstrate financial need, as determined by the university's Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, with a preference given to students who have experienced a personal challenge during their college career, such as a parent or guardian losing a job or a student losing a parent or guardian. Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of a student as a Righter Scholar shall follow the University's guidelines for the awarding of scholarships.
